About Bullying and Cyberbullying

How do you know if you’re being bullied? If you wonder, you are not alone- it’s common to question whether you’re being bullied and, if you are, what to do about it.

Ever seen kids engaging in behavior that can be classified as:
A
ggressive
I
ntimidating
Repeated?

If so, then you’ve seen bullying in action. Bullying always involves an imbalance of power between the bully and the target. There is a widespread misconception that bullying is simply physical, but there are many forms of bullying, including:

  • Verbal harassment
  • Alienation
  • Cyber-bullying

Cyber-bullying is becoming more prevalent as students have access to social media applications, cellular phones and other technological devices.

Bullying has long-term emotional effects on targets and can result in criminal prosecution for students engaging in bullying behavior and fines and/or other penalties for schools that do not report and investigate bullying incidents properly.
